The Go To Oil for High Heat Cooking

Cooking oil is one thing that can be found in all kitchens. There’s many different types of cooking oils and more brands of cooking oil than you can shake a stick at. Different types of cooking oil are used for different purposes. Cooking oils have heat ranges from low to high. The range of heat each cooking oil is based on is determined by its smoke point. The temperature at which the oil starts to smoke is the temperature it will be rated up to. Sure you can heat an oil beyond its rated temperature, but you could ruin your dish or even cause a fire if you aren’t careful. Some oils may excel as part of a recipe like a dressing or marinade. Some oils can be drizzled on a dish that have just the desired flavor for the occasion. Some oils help to be more nonstick than others while some oils are more sticky. The oil I’m reviewing here today is one that excels with higher heat cooking. When cooking with Napa Valley Organic Sunflower Oil you can easily maintain a medium to medium high heat without having to worry about overheating it. Napa Valley Organic Sunflower Oil is rated with a 460 degrees Fahrenheit smoke point. With a temperature like that it goes beyond the 350 to 400 degrees range a lot of your cooking might be at. This oil is a great searing oil because it doesn’t break down like olive oil or butter. When oils break down they can result in unpleasant tastes and even discomfort like heartburn. If someone experiences a lot of heartburn, sometimes that can be caused by overheated cooking oil. I’m not a doctor, I’m just saying that overheated cooking oils can cause heartburn and if they do, try using cooking oil with a higher smoke point such as this one. Why this one? Why not avocado oil or grape seed oil? Those oils are excellent choices as well. However, this oil is more versatile. It’s made from sunflower seeds so that results in a light nutty flavor. A light flavor like this can mix with an assortment of dishes. Hash browns are a good example of what this oil can do well at. The light nutty flavor actually enhance the flavor of the potatoes quite a bit. The high heat point helps to create a beautiful golden brown layer on crispy sides. This oil is slicker than avocado oil for example which is quite sticky. With a light nutty flavored, slippery, high heat oil, this is a must have for any kitchen. Sure there’s other brands out there too, but this one is always consistent and fresh every time. It’s also from Napa Valley California which has an excellent climate for fine wines and oils. One more thing to add is that the price is quite fair compared to other oils out there. It’s often around $10 or so when good olive oils can go for $18 or more for the same amount. It’s no olive oil replacement, because they have their place, but it’s a great go to oil for day to day needs. You can’t go wrong with this. Give it a try. You’ll thank me.
