Privacy Policy Updated on 3/27/2023

Who we are

We are Packaged Food Reviews. Our website address is: https://packagedfoodreviews.com What we want to achieve here is to broaden the horizons for anyone who comes our way. Our site is designed to enhance day to day shopping experiences that most people are likely to have. Our site is focused around shopping for groceries. Anything that could be labeled as food that comes in a package is our focus. The idea is that we share our experiences with everyone else about foods that we feel passionate about. Every member of this website can be the first to review a product and write reviews on products others have already written about. We want to tell the world about our packaged food experiences and we would like our members to do the same. Together by sharing our experiences that are good, bad, and everywhere in between, we can help each other to discover what’s out there and make educated decisions when buying foods. This will help when deciding to try something new. Although 1 person or maybe several don’t appreciate a product, doesn’t mean everyone won’t. We aren’t here to discriminate against any products, brands, companies, or people. Our goal is to help each other out the best we can and that’s all. By sharing reviews on this website from actual experiences from real people, others can make educated decisions. The information here isn’t a guide line in telling people what to buy or how to shop, they’re just opinions from actual people. We are not responsible for defamation of character or defamation of brands and our members are not either. Ultimately our goal is to help people have an enjoyable experience that they will find useful for years to come. For any suggestions for improvement or questions in general, we can be contacted through our contact us link here or by clicking the contact us link from our main menu. You can also share your feedback or suggestions by clicking on how do you like our site which can also be found under the site information part of our menu. Then simply send whatever message you would like us to receive and if it there is a response requested, you should receive one within 48 hours.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

In order to help enhance your experience, we collect some of your information, but not in a scary way. In order to participate as a member of our site, at the minimum we collect your member name and email address which is required to sign up for free membership.  We also collect your actual name if you want to share it with us, however, it isn’t currently required to participate, only optional. When you access your member profile if you haven’t given your name, it may show that it’s required, but your account will still function without it. Other information we collect also includes account preferences or settings you make that are stored in our systems to better serve you.  Your member password is not visible to us, it is private to you and only you. Any reviews, comments, and uploads you submit are also stored in our systems which are to better serve you. We do not sell your information to anyone. In other words, we only have the information you give us and it may only be used to enhance your experience and help further your interaction with everyone else.

Comments and Posts/Reviews

Comments are what really brings the personal interaction experience to life. They allow everyone to say what they feel strongly about and get to see what others think about it. Comments can bring us together as if we were talking to each other at the dinner table. All comments through our main review section will be reviewed for approval before being posted live for public view. Comments through the members activity link may go live without review, but we ask you be considerate when commenting. Any comments or other content that may appear offensive can be reported to us via the link near the comment or post and may be taken down. We will not approve inappropriate content or vulgar language. In general, we want you to be honest, just be respectful at the same time. If you don’t like a product or disagree with someone else, please say so and it will be posted as long as it isn’t vulgar or inappropriate. If there is something like that in your comment or review that is inappropriate but otherwise sounds good, we may contact you and ask that you remove it or change it so that we can share your experience with the world. We will not edit or change your comments at all. Any images submitted to us may be resized for the best compatibility with our website, but not edited visually. As long as they meet our guidelines for being appropriate, they will get posted and should be live within 48 hours of your submission. Comments and posts through our members area are part of our social interaction experience. Those comments are different than the review comments section from our main stream page. Those comments may be posted immediately, so please be appropriate and do not violate our privacy policy or member/user agreement. Any comments in violation of our agreements may be taken down and could lead to termination of your account. We don’t want that to happen, so we would prefer to work issues out so it doesn’t get to that point. If you notice any comments in that section that violate our agreements, please use the menu that looks like three dots like this (…) in the upper right portion of the post, then click the triangle to ‘report’ it for the violation. That will give you the option to choose why the content is inappropriate and we can deal with it. If anyone accidentally clicks on report and reports a post or comment, we will notice it doesn’t violate our policies and it will not be taken down.

When visitors leave comments or reviews on our site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address.

Media

Media, in the case of our website photos are what help make the internet more appealing. Photos and pictures help bring more of a full experience to us when we’re browsing, reading, researching, reviewing, or whatever. For our website, photos are how we can show the world what a product looks like. It can be the original packaging, it could be what’s inside the package, or it could even be a creation brought together using what’s in the package such as what’s for dinner or breakfast.  Photos help bring products into focus on our site. We encourage you to upload your own photos to show your experiences to the world. It is not required that you upload a photo when posting a review comment on an existing review on our site, but it is optional. We do require at least one photo to be uploaded on a review of a product that has not yet been reviewed on our site. If you were looking up a product, wouldn’t you want to see what it looks like? That’s why the first review of every product must have at least 1 photo of it uploaded. After the first photo, it is optional.  It really depends on what’s currently on our site at any given time. We do want you to upload photos, but if there’s already a photo of the product you’re reviewing, you don’t have to it’s optional, but you can share your experience with it.

After you upload a photo to our site, it is still yours. Even though it is live on our site, you still own the rights to your photo. We will not make changes to your photos except for resizing them for website compatibility and adjusting meta data to aid in search results to help people find your reviews. That doesn’t change the appearance of your photos at all. We also won’t sell your photos to anyone either. However, just like when you upload a photo anywhere on the internet including social media, those photos may be downloaded by anyone at anytime even if all they can do is a screenshot. We are not responsible for what other people on the internet might do with your photo, which may include altering it, sharing it, saying it’s their own, or anything else imaginable. If you ever see someone taking credit for your photo on any website you can contact them letting them know it’s your photo and usually they will remove it or resolve the issue for you. Basically any time you upload a photo, video, audio file, or whatever else on the internet, if it’s displayed for the whole public to see, it may be downloaded by anyone. In other words please upload photos of your product experiences, just know that those images still belong to you and we won’t use them for any purpose other than helping to enhance the user experience by posting your review so people are more informed. Any media you upload through the members area is only displayed to other members, or your friends, or groups, depending on the privacy settings you choose when uploading them. Please check your member profile to see your preferences and account settings. Also, when you write a new post under the activity area, there’s a privacy setting you can choose for each posts. They will default to your main account settings, but individually you can choose from; public, site members, friends only, and only me. The only me option means it is only for your eyes. All reviews of products that go through our main review forms are public however as they are what help make this site useful for everyone.

We also intend to have ‘buy it now’ links on our site as we grow to enhance your experience. If you click on a link to buy a product, we may get commission from the sale. It takes money and time to run a website, that’s why there’s almost always ads on most websites that do not sell products.  Any ‘buy it now’ links we set up will be only to legitimate websites that we trust and approve of. There’s a lot of scam websites out there and we will Not promote any of them here. Any links you click on, once you leave our website, we are not responsible for what the other website does. We encourage you to read all privacy policies from every website you go to. Every website has their own privacy policy and it may vary from site to site. Other websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. Basically, be cautious online and if you really want to know what’s being shared, stored, sold, or anything else with your information, read the privacy policy from every website you go on. One more tip when browsing the web is to look in the address bar of your browser if you are not sure if a website is as it appears. Ours will always contain packagedfoodreivews.com/. If you are ever on a website and the appearance of it doesn’t match the URL in the address bar, it may be a scam site. We suggest doing further research if that happens before sharing any data with them.

Analytics

Here at https://packagedfoodreviews.com/ we like to know how well our site working so we use analytics. We monitor all forms of traffic going through our site. Analytics help to see how well posts are showing up in search results, key words people are searching that show our site in results and so on. Analytics also help when it comes to site maintenance so we can know what times are the least busy so we can perform updates without disrupting your service. We like to know how many new member sign ups there are. We monitor the number of new posts. We monitor the number of comments. We monitor the number of views on our site in general. We also monitor the digest emails our website sends out, but only to see if they were sent correctly and if members were able to open them. That helps us determine if our outgoing emails are configured and working properly. What we monitor helps determine that our goals are being met. They show us a day to day comparison about how daily use of our site may change. They help us determine what’s working to grow our site and help to let us know what we may want to try different to improve site usage. That is a highly unlikely situation and if it ever happened we would make sure the legal parties involved were legitimate and had the legal authority to request that information as we don’t just hand over data. If you are getting rid of your data, it does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. If it does happen though, not giving out any of our members information is our priority unless we are proven legally obligated. How we protect your data

Data protection is of the utmost importance to us. We take data protection very seriously. We have measures in place to assure your info and ours is safe from hackers, spammers, data bots, and any other forms of prying eyes or destructive forms out there. To start with, the only ones who can access any of your data besides you are our trusted site administrators which does Not include your password. Not just anyone gets to be an administrator for us. Only fully qualified individuals with the proper credentials may become our site administrators.  Your data and all of our website is stored on secure servers powered by Amazon AWS. We use multiple security monitoring options available through AWS. We have daily backups of this website, all of it’s data including member data, and media files associated through AWS.  AWS servers are in top secret locations where only certain employees are allowed to access them at all and are under 24 hour surveillance. We have multiple layers of encryption in place between our website and its data as well. We have our services optimized for security through AWS services. We also have our services going through CloudFlare to protect your data and our services. Their services help keep bots and hackers from compromising your data and our services. We monitor all site traffic through Cloudflare 7 days a week. We have multiple layers of protection set up through Cloudflare to protect our website before potentially threatening visitors even reach our website. There is a growing list of rules that filter out unwanted traffic from our site that we update daily. Legitimate traffic should have no problem getting through and should be able to simply access our services we offer to you. We also have our website set to require your  email address to sign in to your account. Your email address by default is Not publicly displayed in your profile.  Without your email address, someone else could Not sign in to your account. Our administrators keep a close eye on our site from the back end to make sure everything stays safe and secure. The back end is the behind the scenes part of a website that administrators use to create it all with. The back end is the part that you don’t see by browsing. The front end is what you see when you access a website with your web browser or app. Our administrators monitor the security of our website around the clock. We also use Google recaptcha service to filter out spam bots and bots in general on select pages such as logging into your account through any login page or our members activity stream. You will find a symbol at the bottom corner of submission forms on our site that is in a circular shape of arrows. Hover down near it and there are links to the privacy terms and acceptance terms from the Google reCaptcha service. We only use this service to filter out spam bots as well, but generally speaking they first have to get through our CloudFlare setup to be able to get to a login screen. However, by submitting a form such as member review, contact us, or registration, you also accept the Google reCaptcha terms. Google recaptcha is just a part of every day life on the internet for most of us now. Any time you have to choose signs, crosswalks, buses, or anything else to verify you are human, you are most likely using their service. There are other similar services out there, but we determined Google reCaptcha to be a best fit for us. Sometimes it’s just checking a box to prove you’re human and sometimes it’s an invisible method which will still show their icon. It may be one more step we would all rather not have to do, but it is actually a big protection from bots crawling the web posing as humans that have bad intentions. It protects our website and your accounts. If there’s even the slightest clue of a data breach, we do what it takes to stop it in its tracks before it has a chance. The bottom line is we do everything we can to assure your data is safe.
