A truly aged balsamic vinegar!

This is a balsamic vinegar like no other! Well, there could be similar ones out there, but night and day difference from most you might find at a mainstream grocery store. This vinegar is classified as Grand Reserve 25 Stars by Napa Valley Naturals. This is the highest of the star rating in balsamic vinegar meaning it has the most amount of aged vinegar in it compared to others in the star rating system. Grand Reserve 25 Stars means that it contains a certain amount of balsamic aged 10 years or more in it. Nothing is set in stone though with this rating system.  I can tell you from sampling different types of aged products, that it’s definitely aged for quite a while. The first thing that makes this balsamic unique is that it pours out slow because it’s thick. Having a thicker balsamic vinegar can be handy. Have you ever went to drizzle some balsamic on a salad or other dish and it just dumped out quickly and suddenly? That’s not going to happen with this. Not only is it thick, it comes with an insert in the bottle that lets it pour through a slit for a controlled flow. This vinegar is aged in an oak or chestnut cask which may vary by the cask. This balsamic has a syrup like texture which comes on with a mild vinegar taste to it, but isn’t a strong taste. An Earthly presence that developed from being aged in oak or chestnut barrels caresses the whole experience. To me there’s a little bit of a prune taste going on that gives it a sweet, tart taste. This balsamic is really full of flavor and satisfaction! It is great on salads, but it can also be used on cooked veggies like asparagus and plenty of other cooked veggies. It does say on the bottle that it can be used with desserts too. I haven’t tried it that way yet, but I could see it going well some desserts. Since you can pour this out with a nice controlled flow, you could try just a little bit it on a dessert and not have to worry about putting too much on in case it didn’t mix. To summarize, if you are a fan of balsamic vinegar, vinegar in general, or might like one if it wasn’t super acidic, this should definitely be on your list to try!

Do you eat salads on a daily basis? If you answer yes to that question, you probably use different dressings to make sure it doesn’t become a broken record. So why not try something new? Once I tried this balsamic vinegar, I now make sure to have some at home at all times. It’s really that good. Balsamic vinegar can sometimes be too watery and just ruin a salad. Or if not too watery, it may have an overpowering vinegar flavor. Not this vinegar. It is thick and has well developed flavors. You could take my word for it, or you could try some for yourself and then let me know what you think. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.Check out my salad in the picture, it’s topped with this fine product.
