It can be a challenge to find fresh sea scallops anywhere and if you do, they are likely previously frozen. So on those occasions when you want to have sea scallops, these are a great choice! Sea scallops are often chosen for special occasions such as an anniversary, a birthday, or a celebration. So if you are planning to cook sea scallops for a special occasion, try not to wait until last minute to purchase them so they’re not sold out. Being a frozen product these need to thaw to be ready to cook. Once they are thawed then you can get ready to cook your nice dinner. This time the special occasion was New Year’s Eve. Sea Scallops cook reasonably fast, so you will want to cook them when everything else you are preparing is nearly ready. Sea Scallops are best served right out of the pan. A well seasoned cast iron pan works great for searing these Open Nature Sea Scallops. For New Year’s Eve dinner I cooked Parmesan Risotto with fresh cut garlic, Seared Sea Scallops, and a white wine saffron sauce. My wife cooked some Zucchini and made salads for us. So it made a wonderful New Year’s dinner. When you give these sea scallops a nice sear and cook them to perfection, they are an experience of their own. There’s a thin layer that’s nice and crisp on the outside. The inside will almost melt in your mouth. A nicely prepared Risotto goes really great with these too! The Zucchini went well with it too. Asparagus is another vegetable that would go well with this meal. The salads were a must to balance the meal out. If you want to create a fancy dinner without going out, these scallops are a must try!

Impress that Special Lady!
When you are going to make a seared sea scallops meal for your Special Lady, these are the ones to buy! Not only are they easy to find at a local Safeway, but they are always good. I have never seen a bag of these contain chunks and fragments the way some other brands sometimes do. These are always large and all close to the same size. That’s what make these such a great find. There’s nothing to complain about when it comes to Open Nature Sea Scallops. So next time you want to impress that special someone, give these a try!

Always consistent!
From time to time I like to cook sea scallops. I have tried different brands of sea scallops and I really like the Open Nature brand of them. I like this brand because they are always consistent in the size of each of them. When buying sea scallops it’s a good practice to look at how many are in a bag if you can see through it. There is a window in these bags that does allow for a good inspection. Large and equal sizes is good to look for and this brand offers just that. Since sea scallops are kind of expensive and that’s really with all brands, it’s good to know what you’re buying. Generally speaking, the fewer the sea scallops in the bag compared to weight, the larger they are. Open Nature Sea Scallops are high quality and equal sizes. These are always a win for a nice dinner!
